The shooting of JAZBAA has commenced recently in Mumbai, and to know the view of the man himself and the experience of working with Sanjay Gupta, we got in touch with Chandan, who told us, "Sanjay Gupta is a big canvas director and there is always an international look and feel about his films. The same holds true for JAZBAA."
When we queried him about his exact role, he said, "I always work hard for all the characters that I essay. Okay, let me tell you in brief, my role in JAZBAA is on similar lines as Kevin Spacey in SEVEN (1995)," concludes Chandan.

Varun and Kriti, who are currently shooting for a song sequence on the streets of Bulgaria, are experiencing the same. Varun shared one of the pics from the sets where he was spotted rising high on monster trucks and even surrounded by it.
Interestingly, the track is choreographed by Remo D'souza (with whom Varun worked in the recently released ABCD 2) and it is their 13th song together.
An elated Varun Dhawan took to a micro-blogging site to share the picture and details. He wrote, "#Dilwale monster truck madness. My 13 th song with @remodsouza and the biggest @iamsrk #rohitshetty"
The movie will be a comeback for Bollywood's most loved on-screen couple Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol after a gap of five years. Produced by Red Chillies Entertainments Pvt Ltd and Rohit Shetty Productions, DILWALE will hit the silver screens on December 18 this year.
We don't think there could be a better DOSTANA than John Abraham - Abhishek Bachchan. Agreed?
Even when there will be a DHOOM: 20, it will be incomplete without Abhishek Bachchan!
HAPPY NEW YEAR
HNY is completely unimaginable without 'Nandu Bhide' (Dimaag mein keede) ;)
Abhishek Bachchan played a serious as well as funny character with equal intensity in the movie, and his comic timing was just spot on!
Just imagine what would GURU have been without Jr. Bachchan?
Despite being part of a multi-starrer, Abhishek Bachchan stood out as the villain in YUVA!
'Krrish' Hrithik Roshan spent some quality time with his sons in Africa by crocodile hunting, and not only that - the Greek God posted a photo of him and his son making a scary face.
Moreover, he asked people to judge whether their expressions were real or fake by writing on a micro-blogging site, "Real? or faking it?... (Hint - He's doing it better than me)? ?CrocodileHunting? ?#?AmazingAfrica?"
Just how adorable! Can we expect Hrithik's son to follow AbRam Khan's footsteps and entertain us on the big screen (like in HAPPY NEW YEAR), pretty please?
Ask SRK if this will kind of affect the business of his film if it wouldn't have come together and he says, "As excited as you're about the clash that is going to happen because of the social media; first- it's not a clash. There are only 365 days, 54 Fridays, we make 200 films so it's bound to happen that some films release on the same Friday. And most of the people involved in both the films are actually friends, Adi is producing it, Salman's acting in it, Excel is producing it, Red Chillies is doing it, I'm part of it."
He added, "I think yes, absolutely, business will get divided, but we are such good friends that we'll do everything together so we'll release the film also together. There is nothing like a clash. There will be films which will come together, release together and as far as the team on both sides is concerned we're very respectable, loving and friendly people with each other also, so we'll work things out that we get the best business time as possible."
Now we're all the more excited for the films and hope they both do well!
With every film, Subhash has stamped his 'identity' and JOLLY LLB was just what the lawyer, oops... Doctor had ordered. With a few days left for the release of GUDDU RANGEELA, the hatke director with an eye for detail takes time out to talk about his early days, GR, his star cast, the actor who lavished the biggest compliment on him and the actor to watch out for...
I also met his lawyer in his chamber for an overview of his perception of Subhash. I'm talking about Boman Irani who played Advocate Rajpal in the critically acclaimed film. Though unwell, Boman was eager to give his views, with a special mention of Subhash's detailing of the atmosphere which became a character!
Martin D'Souza in a tete-a-tete with Subhash Kapoor
After JOLLY LLB a lot of expectation rests on your ability as a director. Does that scare you or motivate you?
There is no pressure when I work because of past projects. But yes, I will admit that one is aware of the expectation that people might have with JOLLY LLB or PHAS GAYE RE OBAMA but I don't let it bother me.
Your style of story-telling always has that zing, be it in SAY SALAAM INDIA or PHAS GAYE RE OBAMA. What is it that defines your style?
I will be the wrong person to define my style. I think critics like you perhaps are the right people to describe that. But I would like to believe that I try to tell real stories about real people and real spaces with a tinge of humor and satire. Ultimately, the purpose is to reach out to as many people as possible and a humoristic style of narrative certainly helps.
What is the best compliment you have received as a director, from whom?
'Your quality of writing and depth of subject matter is quite rare these days.' This came from Mr. Naseeruddin Shah [smiles].
What different can we expect in GUDDU RANGEELA?
GR is not a satire like Obama or Jolly but is laden with pots of humor and comedy and the narrative style is slightly more 'mainstream' with a correct dose of romance, drama, thrill, suspense and action.
You have AW, AS and AR. Is it a deliberate attempt at numerology or did it just happen? I'm talking about Arshad Warsi, Amit Sadh and Aditi Rao?
Ha ha ha ha ha... I don't believe in astrology. It's just that all three of them suited the part.
So is Arshad your lucky charm?
I have immense respect for Arshad as an actor. We enjoy working together and share a great rapport. We were lucky for each other in Jolly. I do hope we repeat it with GUDDU RANGEELA.
What are your expectations as a director from this film?
Like any other director, I expect people to like it and also see the growth in my work as a story-teller.
You are now a name to reckon with as far as quality directors are concerned. Has that opened your market now with production houses coming to you as opposed to say when SAY SALAAM INDIA released?
I am just three films old and have a long way to go but it's nice to know that there are producers/studios/actors willing to work with me. But the biggest high for me it is to be able to make the kind of films that one wants to make. Life is any day better than post SAY SALAAM INDIA days, though those times were a great learning experience.
It's good to see that you are giving talent an opportunity. I'm talking about Shriswara Dubey, who, according to me, is a fabulous actor. What's your impression of her as a performer?
I remember seeing Shriswara in D-DAY and liked her very much. She has a small but a very, very crucial part in GR. I had a great time working with her and I think she is very talented and it will be difficult for people not to recognize that.
I know it's unfair to compare, but which character in GR is the one to look out for?
Look out for Ronit Roy in GUDDU RANGEELA.
Boman Irani on Subhash Kapoor
What did you learn from Subhash whilst working on JOLLY LLB?
The research that Subhash did for Jolly could be unmatched simply because he was a journalist before. I was mighty impressed with his minute detailing.
The detailing of an atmosphere he created was not something that is seen in movies. His understanding of a subject was so thorough, that the atmosphere became a character of the film! It was unique. He brought drama alive in a courtroom like it is in India.
How would you rate his intensity, involvement and intelligence in his working style?
As a director, he has a wonderful duality. He knows what he wants, which is good, he also knows what you want and what you are striving to give him as an actor and he is receptive of that.
If he knows you are trying to do something, he will encourage it and that is a big thing.
Sometimes directors can be stubborn and they lose out on what the artiste is trying to give them.
We have seen Shraddha's amazing dance moves in her last film ABCD 2. Ask her if she is excited to work with Tiger Shroff as he is also a very good dancer and she says "He is a superb dancer, how he moves! I am very scared. How will I dance with him? I will have to rehearse a lot."
"My dad knows his dad. We've also grown up together and been to the same birthday parties. When you're in that filmy group, all the kids hangout together only. We used to go for the same birthday parties, dance together, eat cake and do everything together. So ya, I am very excited," she added.
Tiger is known to be very shy; ask her about it and she says, "Is he? He isn't shy. He is quite friendly."
BAAGHI will be directed by Sabbir Khan and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala.
The news of Kareena and Shahid dating was something that was not hidden from anyone. What shocked us was when the two lovebirds broke up and Kareena started dating Saif.
Turning size zero
Bebo turning size zero had become a big news! She was both acclaimed and criticized for her zero size figure.
Priyanka and Kareena's war of words
The two leading and vibrant actresses Kareena and PeeCee have worked together in hits such as AITRAAZ and DON remake. Let's take a dig into the nasty verbal war these two actresses had.
In one episode of 'Koffee With Karan' Season 3, Bebo asked PeeCee 'From where did she get her accent' to which Priyanka had replied, 'From where your boyfriend has got' (hinting to Shahid Kapoor, when they were together). Later on Shahid was rumoured to be dating Priyanka.
In one more incident, Piggy Chops had received The National Award for MARY KOM. In an interview, when she was asked if every actress working in Madhur Bhandarkar's movie gets a National Awards she had said, ''Har Heroine ko nahi (Not every heroine). Mujhe mila hai (I got it) and I was very happy.'' Just for information, Kareena was the lead in Madhur's film, HEROINE.
Rumours about dating Hrithik Roshan
In an interview, when Kareena was asked about her dating rumours with Hrithik, she said, ''The most shocking part of the articles linking me with Hrithik Roshan was the insinuation that I was willing to give up my career to run after him. Please! Not for a man, never''.
Ameesha Patel over KAHO NAA PYAAR HAI
Next in row was Ameesha Patel. Initially, Kareena was going to be the lead in KAHO NAA PYAAR HAI, but the she opted for REFUGEE over that film. KNPH turned out to be a hit and supposedly, Bebo had tagged
Ameesha as 'just a replacement'.
Ameesha had then replied to Kareena's comment saying, ''I never had any animosity with Kareena. Maybe she could not handle the success of the film she had opted out of." Ouch!
Kareena and Bipasha battle
A cold war between Bebo and Bipasha Basu started on the sets of AJNABEE and continued for 7 long years right from racist comments to spanking each other in the interview. Bebo designers Manish Malhotra led a helping hand towards Bips which send Bebo in rage so much so that she alleged called Bipasha a kaali billi.
She once quoted, ''I am a hell raiser. I do my own thing. And I believe what I do is the right thing.''
According to reports, Bipasha clearly stated that she didn't wish to work with someone like Kareena ever again.
Kareena Kapoor Khan on relationship
Probably, Kareena was upset with men which was pretty evident from her quotes.
Some of her quotes were:
''I wouldn't be able to turn a blind eye to my husband's activities like other star wives. I will be screaming down his throat, demanding an account of every minute of his. So you see an actor won't be good for my peace of mind.''
''Men are gutless. Why can't they own up to the women they love?''
Reportedly, Kareena had said, ''I confess that I'm mad. There have been times when I've signed a film and then felt it was wrong. Yes, I was supposed to do RAM-LEELA but I changed my mind. I decided to do GORI TERE PYAAR MEIN instead. With me, it's all about the mood. There are no regrets. I'm the only actress who can boast of giving films to other actresses.''
Reportedly, when Kareena was asked to comment on her co-stars calling her selfish, she had said, ''I can't help it; it's what got me where I am. It's 'me only' attitude.''
Ask the actor if he helped Tina in acting and he says, "Yes, I did. I have done a lot of films in Punjab. I have also done more than 200 music videos and sung about 400-500 songs. So my career is very long. Tina is very new. She has no star-daughter tantrums. The best part about her is that she's very understanding. If you explain something to her, which is for the betterment of the film, she does it."
Directed by Sumeep Kang, SECOND HAND HUSBAND also stars Dharmendra, and is scheduled to release on 3rd July, 2015.
"Yes it's challenging because till now I played myself on screen. For the first time I am playing the famous cricketer. So I have mixed feeling. In fact I was shocked and even asked the makers whether I can play this role. But they cleared my doubts and asked me to do an audition. I auditioned for the part and they were happy for it," says Manjot.
On probing him how he is preparing for the role, Manjot shares, "I have started doing the workshops for it. I keep observing Siddhu ji's body language, the way he talks and walks, his hand gestures, etc. I have learnt one thing usually, as the person ages, his energy levels are drained but in Siddhu ji's case with growing age, his energy levels have only increased. He is very impulsive, energetic, a mastermind and spontaneous. So I have to prepare hard to match up the level." He adds further, "I have read about him, his life and family."
Ask him if he feels AZHAR is a big opportunity for him and Manjot says in a timid tone, "Whether make or break let's see once the film releases i.e. on 13th May 2016. I am thankful to Balaji (Motion Pictures) that they chose me. Right now I am gaining confidence to do my best."
The film will go on floors in August and Manjot will be essaying the three phases and age groups of Navjot Singh's life. "I will portray the three age groups of his life. When he started cricket, when Azhar and Navjot became great friends and when he left cricket. Unlike his current image, people will get to see the serious and mischievous side of Navjot in the film. People will witness the slim and shy Siddhuji in the biopic. The film will highlight Azharuddin and Navjot's portion than concentrating on latter's personality," he says
Manjot will soon meet Navjot. "I have not yet met him but I am keen to meet Siddhu ji. I already spoke to production people and they will fix the meeting soon," Manjot reveals.
Although he is playing a cricketer, he is not a crazy fan of the sport. He says, "I love playing cricket but I am not a crazy fan. I don't keep a tab on every match. In fact, I didn't know much about Siddhu ji."
On a parting note, ask Manjot if he is getting typecast in Bollywood and offered roles because he belongs to a specific community and he clears, "Actually, earlier Sardars (Sikh) were only shown as comedian or their special dance. But now Bollywood has gradually matured up. There is a trend where Sardar can do romance, action and drama. They have significant roles too."
