Vishal Dadlani resigns as member of AAP after being trapped in a religious controversy

A recent post of musician-singer Vishal Dadlani has left several from the Jain community miffed over his comments on Jain monk Tarun Sagar addressing the Haryana Assembly that he posted on social media. In fact, post that, a police complaint was filed against Vishal who also belongs to the political party AAP.

The said complaint was filed at Shahdara police station in Delhi by the Jain community and followed by the same, Vishal Dadlani also received a lot of backlash from Twitter. Deleting the post, the musician apologized and maintained, "I apologise if I've upset Jain feelings. The intent was to ridicule the merger of religion & governance, and not any religion in particular." He continued to give this response to almost every tweet that criticized his comments and spoke about hurting religious sentiments of the Jains. Being an active member of the AAP party, party leader Arvind Kejriwal too condemned Vishal's comments and took to Twitter to state his opinion saying, "Tarun Sagar ji Maharaj is a very reverred saint, not just for jains but everyone. Those showing disrespect is unfortunate and shud stop."

Vishal Dadlani, after receiving flak also decided to walk away from all kinds of political affiliations. He continued to spread this message in a series of tweets adding, "It feel bad that I hurt my Jain friends & my friends @ArvindKejriwal & @SatyendarJain .I hereby quit all active political work/affiliation. A lot is being said against AAP because I chose to quit. I just want to say, AAP is a family. Please keep faith in AK & the party! I made a mistake by offending the peaceful Jain community, and I felt the only way to truly apologise, was to renounce my ego. Neither Arvind, nor anyone else, asked me to quit. I make my own decisions. I made a mistake, & I'm genuinely sorry. That's all. Never forget how hard AK & AAP have fought for all of us. AAP volunteers, stay strong & fight twice as hard. With you all, in spirit. I apologise again, to the Jain Community, & all others offended. But I beg you all not to support religion in governance, for India's sake."

Sunny Deol has not approached me for any film with his son and my daughter - Amrita Singh

Amrita Singh who is currently being seen stealing the thunder and the lightening as super-hero Tiger Shroff's super-spunky mother in A Flying Jatt is aghast to read reports of her old buddy and favourite co-star Sunny Deol approaching her for a film with her daughter Sara.

In London to settle her son Ibrahim at his educational institution, Amrita called to clarify, "First of all, let me say this. I would never ever say no to Sunny. He and I go back a very very long way. We not only made our debut together in Betaab, we practically grew up together. Sunny's family and I are so close it would be inconceivable for me to say no to him for anything. I love Sunny's son Karan like my own son."

Amrita then goes on to clear the air about this supposed project featuring her daughter and Sunny Deol's son. "Sunny has not approached me for any film with his son and my daughter. Not Betaab 2, not Betaab Remixed, or whatever. This is purely a figment of someone's imagination."

Speaking fondly of her association with Sunny, Amrita says, "I started my career with Betaab. I was so young and immature. We were so awkward singing Jab hum jawan honge jaane kahaan honge. Masha Allah, aaj hamare bachche jawaan ho gaye (our children have grown up). They are getting ready to embark on their careers. Let's not spoil their dreams by cooking up unsavoury controversies."

Having the last word on the Sara-Karan jodi, Amrita says, "I'd love for them to work together. God willing, they will work together one day. But for now there is no talk of any project with them together." So is Sara going to make her debut in Karan Johar's production?

Taking a deep breath Amrita says, "Look, Sara has not signed anything yet. Until it is finalized and put on paper it would be premature of me to make any statement on this."

Amrita happily talks about her role in A Flying Jatt. "Are audiences liking the film? I am in London so I am missing out on the excitement. I hope the film's works for Tiger's sake. His dad Jackie Shroff is my buddy forever. Jaggu and I go back a long way. Tiger is also like my bachcha."

When I inform Amrita of critics panning A Flying Jatt she shrugs off the criticism. "We always knew A Flying Jatt was not for the highbrow critics or for the multiplexes. This is a single theatre, seetee-maar, taali-thok paisa wasool film."

Nargis Fakhri continues to work despite injury

Making his Bollywood debut is popular Marathi director Ravi Jadhav who is all set to showcase the changing trends of music in Banjo. The film stars Nargis Fakhri as the leading lady and it seems that the actress' utmost dedication left everyone on the sets impressed.

Considering the hectic work pressure whilst shooting a film, it often leaves several actors stressed and sometimes even results in wounds and injuries. Suffering a knee injury during the shoot of a song titled 'Raada Raada', Nargis it seems continued to shoot for the same despite being in pain. Sources claim that it was difficult for the actress to match her steps with renowned dancer Dharmesh Yelande and her co-star Riteish Deshmukh but the actor decided to continue so that the makers don't incur losses over the expensive set.

Prior to this, Nargis' sudden trip to US had sparked several speculations but it was later revealed that the actress was battling a major illness. She had confessed during an interview that she suffered from lead and arsenic poisoning because of which she had to rush to her country to cure herself.

Pink gets 4 verbal cuts producer Shoojit Sircar happy

Pink the high-profile film on violence against women, has just been viewed and certified with a 'UA' certificate (which means it can be viewed by non-adults with parental guidance) and with only 4 verbal cuts, and that too because they are blatantly abusive towards women.

According to sources close to the film, the Censor Board Of Film Certification (CBFC) was deeply impressed by the film's commitment to projecting the urban Indian woman's predicament in a patriarchal society where men feel it is their birth right to violate women emotionally, verbally and physically.

In an unprecedented and radical change from the norm, the CBFC has allowed many scenes of violence against women because it was felt that the hard hitting content was not gratuitous in Pink.

"The censor board asked for just four verbal cuts in Pink, all referring to women in a derogatory manner. These 4 cuts are 'Phaad de unki', 'Randi', 'Bitch' and 'Saali'. The CBFC allowed all the rest of the strong violent content to remain."

Says producer Shoojit Sircar, "I am so glad the CBFC understood the context of the violence. We are very happy with the way the censor board has treated Pink. Come to think of it, the CBFC has always been empathetic to my films, right from Vicky Donor which was about the then-shocking and taboo subject of sperm donation. The CBFC had not asked for a single cut. They have always understood the relevance of my film's subject. I've no complaints against the censor board."

While refusing to comment on the content and cuts of specific films, CBFC's chairperson Pahlaj Nihlani says, "This year we've noticed a trend towards hard hitting socially relevant subjects in Hindi cinema. We are willing to view such film, especially those pertaining to women's empowerment with care and leniency."

Nihlani cites the examples of the two forthcoming female-centric dramas Akira and Pink. "They are dark powerful films with hard hitting content. Normally they would be granted 'Adult' certificates. But we've given them 'UA' certificates because we at the CBFC feel pre-adult audiences, kids teenagers and adolescents, need to know what dangers awaits them outside their homes. Akira has a very strong message on self-defence for women. And Pink says men need to be taught from their childhood to respect women that if women are expected to dress and behave decently men should also be conditioned to respect women unconditionally."
