Soha Ali Khans 31st October cleared by CBFC with nine cuts

Soha Ali Khan starrer 31st October, which is based on the aftermath of Indira Gandhi assassination, finally received the green light from the Central Board of Film Certification's (CBFC) Revising Committee after a four-month wait.

Harry Sachdeva, who has produced the film, recently spoke about the changes they had to make during this process. He said that it took some time to convince the board but eventually they had managed to retain the scenes that were very important to the story and brought out the realism. They had a reason behind making this film which was to bring justice through the subject.

Speaking about the cuts that have been made, Harry Sachdeva informed that the scenes that showed violence and bloodshed had to be edited. They had to make nine major cuts including dialogues and scenes that could create massive protests from certain communities. The revising committee had asked them to trim down several scenes that were six to seven minutes long and the film was edited several times. All verbal abuses had to be beeped, even something as common as 'saala' on several instances.

Soha Ali Khan's film 31st October is set in Delhi in the year 1984 when the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was assassinated by her two Sikh bodyguards. Soha plays the character of a terrified Sikh woman, who along with her husband Vir Das and twin sons and a year-old daughter, try to survive the major riots that took place on this unfortunate day. For the role, Soha learned Punjabi and Vir did four to five months of training in action.

Directed by Shivaji Lotan Patil, 31st October will release later this year.

Tiger Shroff Remo DSouza to audition kids for their promotional music video

While we saw some talented kids grooving to the beats of the title track of A Flying Jatt, choreographer turned filmmaker Remo D'souza wants yet another music video featuring children. He has joined hands with the leading man of his film, Tiger Shroff and is currently on a hunt for these kid dancers who will be a part of a music video.

The said track will be a promotional music video with peppy beats and will also have Remo and Tiger together dancing to the tunes. We hear that the auditions are being conducted on social media where Remo has asked the kids to share their dance videos and 20 of them will be selected to feature in the music video. Expressing about how overwhelmed he is with the response the title track of the film received, he mentioned that it was the success of that track that inspired him to go ahead with this promotional number where he will once again give opportunities to some talented children to feature their dancing skills on camera.

Also starring Jacqueline Fernandez and Hollywood actor Nathan Jones in prominent roles, A Flying Jatt, produced by Balaji Motion Pictures, is slated to release on August 25.

Ajay Devgn joins hands with KFC India for HOPE initiative

After starting up a campaign for the development of a girl child on social media, Ajay Devgn continues his philanthropic work with the HOPE (Health Oriented Programmes and Education) initiative. The actor turned brand ambassador for the most popular fast food franchise KFC India for the same.

KFC along with others like WFP (World Food Program) and IFBN (India Food Banking Network) HOPE initiative aims at providing over 20 million meals to the underprivileged children of the country by 2020. "With such a large population, hunger is one of the most critical issues that our country faces. I think being associated as a Hope ambassador is one of the most challenging roles I have ever taken on. We are hoping to tackle a big, complex problem head on by raising awareness about hunger," Ajay said in a statement. He further added, "The difference a meal can make to a child's development is huge. On screen, we all love to see the bad guys defeated. You too can contribute to defeating hunger and become a real life hero by adding a nominal amount of Rs. 5 to the bill each time you visit a KFC store."

Ajay Devgn, who is married to actress Kajol, is a father of two kids, Nysa and Yug. He even walked the red carpet for the premiere of his debut international production Parched with his daughter Nysa, thereby promoting the campaign of development of a girl child.

Irrfan Khan to star in a dark comedy directed by Abhinay Deo

Earlier we had reported that Abhinay Deo is all set to direct a film for Rakesh Roshan. Though the latter announced that the film has been shelved, now we hear that Abhinay is taking the venture further. In fact, Irrfan Khan has been roped in to play the lead in this untitled film.

Revealing that Rakesh Roshan is not producing the film anymore, filmmaker Abhinay Deo added that they have approached a production house for the same. He also mentioned about Irrfan being a part of the film which is a dark comedy but refused to divulge any more details on the cast. However, speculations state that Aditi Rao Hydari has been signed as the leading lady of the film.

As of now, Abhinay is busy wrapping up Force 2 starring John Abraham and Sonakshi Sinha. The film, which will take off from where the first instalment left off, has been shot extensively abroad and is slated to release on November 18.

Haryana Government bans the Arshad Warsi starrer The Legend of Michael Mishra

Earlier we had reported about the uproar caused by the Valmiki community after Arshad Warsi uses Valmiki's name in one of the dialogues in the film The Legend of Michael Mishra. Now we hear that the film has also been banned in the Indian state of Haryana.

The state of Punjab had already announced a ban on the film The Legend of Michael Mishra on Thursday after the Valmiki community raised objection over a few dialogues uttered by the protagonist of the film Arshad Warsi. An official from Haryana Government revealed that the dialogue had caused an outrage and this action was necessary in order to avoid communal conflict. Considering the sensitive situation, the Government decided to ban the screening of the film in cinema halls and multiplexes in Haryana.

The Legend of Michael Mishra also stars Aditi Rao Hydari, Boman Irani, Kayoze Irani in prominent roles and the film released on August 5.

Bollywood stars cricketers join hands with PETA to protect animal rights

While several celebrities have time and again expressed their support towards animal welfare with many even turning vegans, some of them have now decided to take action against the cruel ways in which animals are being treated. Renowned Bollywood actors have come together to sign a petition along with PETA for betterment of animal protection laws.

Amongst the celebrities, the names include that of Jacqueline Fernandez, John Abraham, Arjun Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Raveena Tandon who have collaborated with cricketers like Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane for the cause. They have signed a petition calling upon the government to strengthen animal protection laws. Revealing details of the same, CEO PETA India, Poorva Joshipura stated that the country has weak and outdated laws for animals which require strengthening in order to protect them from being neglected, abused or killed. This petition also focuses on severe punishments for the ones harming animals including jail sentence, psychological counselling and even being banned from interaction with animals.

Ali Fazal to star in a Judi Dench film

While his latest music video 'Pyar Manga Hai Tumhi Se' is creating waves online, Ali Fazal is all set for yet another stint in Hollywood. After Furious 7 , Ali Fazal is all set to star in Victoria & Abdul opposite none other than the Hollywood star Judi Dench.

The film in question is directed by Stephen Frears and is a period drama set in the 1800s revolving around a unique friendship between a queen and clerk. While Judi Dench will reprise the role of Queen Victoria (after the one in Mrs. Brown in 1997) Ali will play the role of Abdul Karim, a young clerk from India in this upcoming film. Ali who is excited about his character jokingly added that he is currently looking like a homeless guy since he has started to grow a beard for his role in the film. He will be leaving for the shoot in London right after the release of his forthcoming comedy film Happy Bhag Jayegi.

Revealing details about his character, Ali mentioned that Abdul is a guy from Agra who is suddenly thrown into a lavish environment in London and the film delicately handles the journey of a simple clerk teaching Hindi and Urdu to the Queen turning into a confidant and a political advisor who shares a unique bond with Her Highness.

Salman Khan lends voice for the role of Hanuman in Hanuman Da Damdaar

While his film Bajrangi Bhaijaan went on to become a record breaking success, Salman Khan once again turned Bajrangi for an animation film recently. The actor has lent his voice to the character of adult Hanuman in the animated film Hanuman Da Damdaar.

From what we hear, Ruchi Narain, writer of films like Hazaaron Khwahishen Aisi, approached Salman Khan asking him to lend his voice for this mythology based animated film and it seems that he readily agreed for it. Revealing details of the dubbing session with the superstar, Ruchi stated that she was left rather impressed with the kind of improvisations that Salman Khan could bring to the table and was also all praises for the actor's sense of humour. Talking about the film, she mentioned that legend of Hanumad Ramayan, which according to her has lost its essence, was what inspired her to make a film on Lord Bajrang bali.

Interestingly, Ruchi has been working on Hanuman Da Damdaar for about three years and it is slated to release by the end of this year.
