Arijit Singh replaced by Atif Aslam in A Flying Jatt

Lightning, they say, never strikes the same place again. But Arijit Singh's career has been struck by lightning twice, originating from the same place.

Pakistan.

While his song 'Jag Ghoomiya' in Sultan was re-rendered by Ustad Rahat Ali Khan, his new track for the film A Flying Jatt has now been dubbed in the voice of Atif Aslam.

While the people close to the development including composers Sachin-Jigar maintain the news is a hoax, sources close to Arijit Singh reveal that Bollywood's finest singer today has indeed been dubbed and snubbed again.

A very talented filmmaker-musician wonders what was the need to replace Arijit. "He has such an amazing voice! And he exercises such great control over the seven musical notes. Unusual for today's singer to be so deeply trained in Hindustani classical music. I can understand a singer as great as Rahat Fateh Ali Khan being brought in place of Arijit. But Atif Aslam can't hold one note in place. He sings off-key and his diction is faulty. Why are we importing bad talent to replace good indigenous talent?"

Arijit Singh himself remains noncommittal about the snub. "No one is irreplaceable, in any walk of life. Whether you are a singer or a doctor, there will always be others to take over your place."

Did the two singers from across the border speak to Arijit Singh before stepping in?

"No, that protocol is not followed by any singer today. If I replaced a singer, I wouldn't be expected to consult whichever singer I was replacing," says Arijit Singh.

Shyam Benegals committee recommends suggestions for anti-smoking clause to CBFC

Couple of years ago, Anurag Kashyap started a fight against the constant smoking warnings that are issued in almost every scene which depicts smoking in a film besides the other short film that plays at the beginning of every film. And now the new committee headed by Shyam Benegal has a few changes to be recommended when it comes to anti-smoking warnings in films.

Central Board of Film Certification has constantly maintained that the audio visual and the continuous warnings are extremely important when it comes to films depicting smoking as according to them they have a bad effect on the society. Taking into consideration the constant appearance of smoking disclaimers that pop up when every character lights a cigarette in the film and the fact that such pop-ups disturb the smooth flow of the film, now the Benegal Committee has suggested changes like a static disclaimer with a standard visual background along with an audio that will be played only for a minimum period. They have also further recommended that it should be applicable for all Indian language films. However, along with them, the committee has mentioned that the frequency of smoking scenes should be reduced. It has been suggested that the presence of high profile actors and superstars may give a boost to the campaign.

Besides smoking, the committee also tackled the problem of the delay in issuing use of animals certificate which takes a long time to get cleared. They have various recommendations on the issue including the concept of licensed supplier of performing animals who will train and protect them as per law for films and other forms of entertainment.

SC rejects Rajpal Yadavs plea tells him to surrender

Readers may recall that we had reported about the funny man Rajpal Yadav being embroiled in a legal tangle with a Delhi-based businessman M.G. Agarwal. The latest update on the same is that the Supreme Court has now ordered Rajpal Yadav to surrender before the Tihar Jail and serve 10 days of imprisonment. Rajpal Yadav, who was found guilty of producing a false affidavit, has already served four days in jail of the stipulated ten days.

For the uninitiated, Rajpal Yadav had taken money in 2010 from M.G. Agarwal in order to make his directorial debut film Ata Pata Laapata. Rajpal Yadav, besides failing to repay the borrowed amount (despite court's repeated undertakings), had produced false affidavit in his defense.

In a hearing that took place four days ago, Rajpal Yadav pleaded to grant him time to repay the amount, which the Supreme Court rejected.

Emraan Hashmis son Ayaan makes his acting debut

Emraan Hashmi's six son Ayaan was in the news of late, due to his battle with the dreaded cancer. Emraan Hashmi, who nicknamed Ayaan as a 'superhero', went onto author a book titled 'Kiss of Life: How A Superhero and my Son Defeated Cancer'. It is this very superhero Ayaan, who has now made his acting debut with a short film Kids For Tigers that has been produced by Dia Mirza.

Speaking about Ayaan's acting debut, the proud father Emraan Hashmi said that just like Ayaan, he too had made his acting debut at the tender age of six years (in an ad for a mosquito repellent). He added that Ayaan had so much ease in his body language and he mouthed his lines without any signs of discomfort or inhibition. Emraan Hashmi also added that, Ayaan liked acting and telling stories, which, apparently, were all signs of an actor and a filmmaker.

Besides Dia Mirza producing the short film Kids For Tigers, it has been written by Cara Tejpal and Dia's husband Sahil Sangha and has been filmed by Rohan Shrestha.

Ashutosh Gowarikers son assists him on Mohenjo Daro

As Ashutosh Gowariker readies his next purported opus Mohenjo Daro, his two sons Konark and Vishwang are all set to become filmmakers like their father.

In fact, the elder son Konark, who is now 25, has already embarked on his journey as a filmmaker.

Reveals the proud dad, "Konark has assisted me in Mohenjo Daro. He is passionate about filmmaking and seems to have his own ideas on how to set up the camera and compose frames. I hope, one day, he directs films that would be very different from my work."

Interestingly, Ashutosh's younger son Vishwang is also keen on filmmaking. "He is 20 and he's studying filmmaking in Boston. When he returns, he will also embark on a career as a director. So, I guess both my sons have taken after me."

Incidentally, Ashutosh is also an actor. He started his career as an actor and then graduated to direction.

"Who knows, my sons may take the opposite direction!" quips the proud father.
